The New York Times author of the weekly “Corner Office” column, Adam Bryant, recently published his book based on interviews with 70 chief executives regarding the qualities that CEOs share that are essential for success. As the NY Times says, “These aren’t theories. They come from decades of collective experience of top executives who have learned firsthand what it takes to succeed.”
The first quality is Passionate Curiosity. Bryant goes on to say, “The C.E.O.’s are not necessarily the smartest people in the room, but they are the best students — the letters could just as easily stand for “chief education officer.”
What I found interesting was that last week, Vistage Speaker, Dr. Lawrence King, gave a workshop to two of my Manhattan based CEO groups about the six most important things that every CEO must do. One of which was being in the role of a student.
- Are you a student of leadership?
- What are you doing for your own professional development?
- Are you a CEO?
By the way, if you are a Manhattan based CEO and interested in a workshop on Tribal Leadership, please check out the Vistage New York All City.
