Accomplished CEO Coach, Leadership Trainer,
Retired CEO, and TEDx Speaker

Mark Taylor Positive Intelligence

Mark Taylor is a retired CEO who has founded several successful companies. One became the 58th fastest growing company in the state (sold in 2005), and the other, a high-tech internet startup that raised $20 million.

As a Certified Positive Intelligence Coach, he has over 12 years of experience working with over 100 NYC CEOs to help them improve their effectiveness and enhance their lives. Many of them are the fastest-growing companies in the country—they are the movers and shakers.

“After 19 profitable years as a CEO, 12 years as a Fortune 500 corporate executive, successfully raising money for an internet startup, plus the requisite failed startup that rounds out my experience, you could say that business is my life. I have dedicated the last 40 years to studying leadership and the last twelve working with leaders committed to becoming better leaders. Through thousands of hours of face-to-face meetings with CEOs and company presidents, I am convinced that it can be different. We, as leaders, managers, and change agents, can create workplaces where people can flourish. We can be better leaders. We can make a difference. We can make this a better world.”

Mental Fitness is The X-Factor for Your Success

Did you know that 80% of people score below the minimum level of mental fitness required for peak performance and happiness?

Much like your physical fitness, if you’re not in good shape, it’s difficult to climb steep hills. The same goes for mental fitness—if you have mental stress such as anxiety, frustration, or unhappiness, it’s difficult to handle work and relationship challenges.

BUT THERE’S GREAT NEWS!

Recent breakthroughs in neuroscience and technology have shown that you can now improve your mental fitness significantly within 6 weeks of practice. This will result in improved performance and productivity, and a calm, clear, and happier mind.

Measuring Mental Fitness With PQ

Positive Intelligence Quotient, or PQ, is the measure of your Mental Fitness. It’s the best predictor of how happy you are and how well you perform relative to your potential.

You can boost your Positive Intelligence Quotient significantly with practice.

Measuring Mental Fitness With PQ

How does PQ work?

PQ is the relative strength of your positive Sage vs. negative Saboteurs.

Saboteurs react to challenges in ways that generate negative emotions such as stress, disappointment, self-doubt, regret, anger, shame, guilt, or worry.

Sage handles challenges through positive emotions like empathy, gratitude, curiosity, creativity, self-confidence, and calm, clear-headed, laser-focused action.

Why The PQ Training Program Works

Compared to PQ training, traditional training has a short-term impact for 3 reasons:

  1. Focuses on insight rather than the muscle: For instance, gaining insights into your frustrations doesn’t automatically eliminate them. That requires your mental muscles to shift brain activation.

  2. Treats the symptoms rather than the cause: For example, learning active listening techniques to improve empathy will only have a temporary impact if your deeply-seated Judge Saboteur is not identified and intercepted.

  3. No common operating system: Each training you attend uses a different framework—the 7 steps of managing conflict, the 5 secrets of managing time, etc.—the frameworks compete for mind share, and all fade away.

A Common Operating System

Whether it’s learning to manage conflicts, managing time, or performing better under pressure, all personal and professional development become applications of the PQ operating system:

  • Intercept Saboteurs
  • Issue Self-Command (through 10-second PQ Reps)
  • Employ Sage (Empathize, Explore, Innovate, Navigate, Activate)

This simple framework can be used for a variety of applications to boost root-level mental fitness.

The latest breakthroughs in neuroscience, cognitive and positive psychology, and performance science

Research that included hundreds of CEOs, sales, operations, and technology teams, Stanford students, elite athletes, and 500,000 participants from 50 countries revealed that:

  • Saboteurs and Sage live in entirely different regions of the brain.
  • You can cause a dramatic shift in brain activation
to weaken Saboteurs and boost Sage.
  • 3 core muscles constitute mental fitness

Tired of Waking Up in the Middle of the Night Worried About Your Business?

You’re not alone! At one of Mark’s annual retreats, CEOs were asked to anonymously write down on a card the questions and concerns they were too afraid to say out loud. Here’s what they wrote down:

  • How can I minimize self-doubt?
  • Why don’t I consistently do what I know is best for me?
  • I’m concerned I may not be inspiring enough to be the right leader for my company.
  • I’m afraid of my emotions. How do I explore this in a full and honest way?
  • How can you learn to confront problems if you do not enjoy confrontation?
  • I’m getting older and it’s beginning to freak me out. How do people cope?
  • I’m wondering how I can have more joy in my life.
  • I am terrified of failing as the leader of my business.
  • I'm constantly looking for more, comparing myself with others
  • I fear dying at an early age from overwork and stress.
  • I'm self-destructive and I don't know why.
  • I often feel like I'm a fraud.
  • I've been abusing drugs and alcohol to deal with stress.
  • I battle with constantly ranking and judging everyone around me in all settings, all the time.
  • I lack strength in resisting temptations and desires.
  • I'm feeling very sad and lonely, and the anti-depressants I'm on don't seem to be helping.
  • I worry my materialism is hurting my children.
  • I don't love myself very much.
  • I'm afraid of ending up like my father, who is unloved and will die alone.

If you can relate to any of the above, the Positive Intelligence Program for Leaders may be for you.
